'The Varlsbeyn docks were always a hive of activity. Milling fishermen barked orders at their crews, fishwives huffed cold breaths, with their large wicker baskets over their shoulders and their skirts tucked up in their waistbands. The smell of salt, seaweed, and fish was carried far by the blustering winds, that set the small, glowing blue lanterns swinging on their crafted bone posts. Wooden hulls rocking in the waters of the bay gave a constant soundtrack to compliment the soft whoosh of the waves over pebbled sands.'
